Rolling Cyber Debate Question for John Hagelin from October 11, 2000
From Web White & Blue (http://www.webwhiteblue.org)

Question:
Why should we believe drug prohibition will eliminate drug use, since alcohol prohibition just led to increased crime? Have you ever used illegal drugs, and if so, how do you reconcile that with whatever punishments for drug use you now endorse?
Submitted from Gene of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania through MSNBC.com (10/11/00)

Answer:
Drug prohibition will not eliminate drug use. I will cut our burgeoning prison population in half by decriminalizing nonviolent drug offenses, directing such offenders to drug education, prevention, and rehabilitation programs.

I have not used any illegal drugs since my early youth.
